Sunny Saturday GOKI Readers, are you folks getting ready for the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament Semi-Final games? Or have you lost interest if the team you chose to make it to the final has already been eliminated (i.e. Ohio St., Kansas, Pittsburgh, Duke, to name a few - wheren't they all No.1 seeds too?, Hmmm, go figure)? Well, I know that the team I chose to win the tournament is playing tonight, hopefully they will win their game tonight against Kentucky and make it to the championship game on Monday night - GO UCONN!!

Ok, so now onto the actual reason for my post today, my daily health tip.

April 2 & 3, 2011 Health Tip Of The Day

MAKE HEALTHY PROTEIN CHOICES

The meat group is an important food group because of the nutrients it provides. However, because the majority of foods in the meat group contain saturated fat and cholesterol, it is important to make lean and low-fat choices. Follow these tips to help make low-fat choices from the meat group:

* Choose skinless, white meat poultry.
* Instead of ground beef, try lean ground turkey instead.
* Buy meat that is well trimmed, with no more than an eighth of an inch fat surrounding the cut of meat.
* When buying ground meats, look for packages that have the greatest percent lean-to-fat ratio.

As Always, To Your Health!
